View Comments

Football fans seen wearing Collingwood and Richmond jumpers have attacked a man after an AFL game in Melbourne.

The three men were seen walking out of the MCG precinct about 10.30pm after the Collingwood versus Carlton game on Friday, May 2.

Police have been told they were banging on car bonnets, and yelling, before they confronted their victim in an apparently random attack.

The fans attacked a 36-year-old man at corner of Wellington Pde and Powlett St, punching him in the head and upper body.

Their victim needed hospital treatment for lacerations, bleeding and bruising to his nose, mouth and head.

The three men are described as being caucasian and aged in their early 20s.

"One of the men was wearing a Collingwood jumper, another was wearing a Richmond jumper and the third man was wearing a red hoodie," police have said.

It it thought other fans leaving the ground may have filmed the men, either banging on car bonnets or the attack, on their mobile phones.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
