Two people are dead and a man is in hospital with serious injuries, following separate car crashes in Victoria.
A car travelling east along Back St Arnaud Road at Charlton, in the state's northwest, lost control and struck a tree on Monday, police say.
Officers arrived at the scene about 2.30pm but the male driver and sole occupant had died.
About an hour later, a car appeared to drift to the wrong side of the Wangaratta-Yarrawonga Road at Killawarra and crashed into a tree stump.
The female driver died at the scene, while her male passenger, believed aged in his 60s, was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital.
The man and woman are thought to be from New South Wales.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Meanwhile, detectives have spoken to a 74-year-old Yallourn North man following the death of a 26-year-old pedestrian in Tanjil South, in eastern Victoria, early on Sunday morning.
No charges have been laid but police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
