NSW Labor to respond to Baird budget (AAP)

View Comments

Opposition Leader John Robertson will officially respond to the Baird government's NSW budget in parliament on Thursday morning.

Mr Robertson has slammed Treasurer Andrew Constance's first budget, delivered on Tuesday, saying it included cuts to TAFE staff and had little in the way of real infrastructure work.

"This has been three-and-a-half years of wasted opportunities by a government that said they were going to get on with the job," Mr Robertson says.

He says a Labor government would better manage the $15 billion annual budget set aside for infrastructure projects.

But Premier Mike Baird has dismissed Mr Robertson's comments about the budget, saying he doesn't have any real road and rail plans.

"He's against congestion but he's not going to build roads," Mr Baird told parliament on Wednesday.

"So what is it? It's hoverboards for everyone - that's his plan."
