ABC BJ Williams had extensive bruising and injuries when he died.A man has pleaded not guilty to murder for allegedly bashing his partner's toddler to death.
Brock Michael Powell, 25, had his conviction for murder set aside by an Adelaide court last week.
He was brought back to the Supreme Court today and pleaded not guilty to murdering two-year-old BJ Williams in January 2012.
Brock argued on appeal that the trial judge failed to give adequate consideration to the possibility the child's mother could have inflicted the fatal injuries when she was alone with the boy for 10 minutes.
His retrial is by judge alone and has been set to formally start in July.
