A toddler at the centre of a siege at a house in Caboolture, north of Brisbane, is now in the care of authorities and a man in custody.

The armed man had been holding police at bay at the house since about 10:30am (AEST) with the 19-month-old child and the child's mother inside.

Earlier, officers said a shot was fired and awoman taken from the house with head injuries.

Her injuries were not from the gun, they said.

Police were called to the Larkin Court house this morning with reports of a man making threats.

An emergency situation was declared, with residents of Larkin Court told to stay indoors and streets in the area closed.

Police set up a command post incorporating Male Road, Eloff Road, King John Drive, Van Beelen Street and Lagoon Creek.

Authorities remain on scene, but residents are being allowed back into the neighbourhood.

At this stage it is not known what relationship the man has with the woman and child.
