A man who has spent 19 years in jail over the murder of a senior federal police officer will learn if he's staying behind bars.
David Eastman was convicted of the 1989 murder of Australian Federal Police assistant commissioner Colin Winchester.
But an inquiry subsequently found there had been a substantial miscarriage of justice at Eastman's trial, and recommended his conviction be quashed and a pardon granted.
The full bench of the ACT Supreme Court will decide on Friday whether to quash Eastman's conviction, order a fresh trial, recommend the ACT government grant a pardon or allow the conviction to stand.
