Former Melbourne Demons AFL player Liam Jurrah has been granted bail in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court and ordered to take part in a residential drug and alcohol treatment program.
Jurrah was due to be released on Sunday after serving three months of a five-month sentence for aggravated assault and breaching a domestic violence order.
The charges were laid after he punched and kicked his wife on Easter Sunday.
However, he was instead ordered to appear in court on Monday to face speeding and dangerous driving charges.
Jurrah will return to court on Friday but in the meantime must live in the Drug and Alcohol Services Association residential home in Alice Springs.
He has been banned from driving a car.
