ABC Nick Kyrgios arrives home at Canberra Airport after his impressive Wimbledon debut.Rising tennis star Nick Kyrgios has arrived home in Canberra to a hero's welcome, after proving at Wimbledon that he is a force to be reckoned with.
The 19-year-old touched down at Canberra's airport just after 9:30am, where his family and a group eager tennis fans were waiting to greet him.
Kyrigos said he was glad to be home but disappointed he could not back up his surprise win against world number one Raphael Nadal.
His dream Wimbledon debut ended with a four-set defeat to Canadian eighth seed Milos Raonic in the quarter-finals.
"Obviously, I didn't have that day off in between but you know, I thought I did my best (and) gave everything, you know," he said.
"I came up short. That's all I can do and hopefully next time I can go that bit further."
Kyrgios will spend the next few weeks training in Canberra and Melbourne ahead of the US Open next month.
But first he will celebrate his success with a family dinner tonight.
