A teenage racing car driver has suffered serious burns in a crash at the Eastern Creek circuit in Sydney's west.

Queenslander Brock Giblin, 17, suffered burns to 70 per cent of his body in a fire which engulfed his car after it rolled several times.

The incident happened during a practice session for a race meeting scheduled for this weekend.

Mr Giblin was conscious and talking to emergency services as he was removed from the car and taken to Westmead Hospital.

He is described as being in a stable condition.
