A new mine is set to go ahead in Tasmania's Tarkine region after the Federal Court dismissed a legal bid by environmentalists to stop it.
The Tarkine National Coalition has been trying to block plans by Venture Minerals to build the mine at Riley Creek, near Tullah.
It had argued it would have a significant impact on eight threatened species, including the Tasmanian devil.
The conservation group also argued the former Environment Minister, Tony Burke, did not take into account the cumulative impact of the company's other proposed mines in the area.
The court said the Coalition "failed to make good any of its grounds" and dismissed the application with costs.
