A Sydney cafe has been evacuated and two waterfront homes are under threat after a fire broke out in a suburban garage.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Bay Parade at Malabar, in Sydney's east, about 1pm on Tuesday.
Superintendent Joshua Turner said two adjoining townhouses were under threat and a cafe had been cleared.
Paramedics are assessing one man at the scene for smoke inhalation.
