Brisbane suburb reopened after explosions (AAP)

Parts of a western Brisbane suburb closed after a stockpile of volatile chemicals were found has been reopened and police will guard the area overnight.

There were a series of controlled explosions at the Pullenvale property on Thursday and authorities spent most of Friday assessing the chemicals found in a detached shed.

A real estate agent raised the alarm after finding drug paraphernalia at the vacant home during a inspection on Wednesday.

"The emergent situation was revoked at 5.10pm and the roads in the area have now re-opened," police said on Friday evening.

"The house where a quantity of explosive materials were discovered will be guarded overnight and specialist police will return to the scene in the morning."

A man and woman had been renting the home for about a year but reportedly scampered after falling behind in their rent.

The Sydney man allegedly rented the property using the stolen identity of a trained navy diver.

The exact nature of the materials found at the home has not been disclosed and investigations are continuing.
