Gerard Baden-Clay has spent his first night behind bars after a jury found him guilty of the murder of his wife Allison.
The former real estate agent was sentenced to life imprisonment on Tuesday, meaning he'll spend a minimum of 15 years behind bars for killing the mother of his three children.
The damning fingernail scratches on his right cheek on April 2012 - the day he reported his wife missing - were enough to persuade the Brisbane Supreme Court jury he was guilty of murder.
The calm demeanour Baden-Clay maintained during his trial crumbled as he wept and trembled when Allison's family spoke in court about how his horrible crime had devastated them and his three daughters.
After the trial Baden-Clay's lawyer would not say whether his client would appeal.
Allison's family say their priority is the future of the three young girls - aged seven, 10 and 13 - who still struggle every day with their mother's absence.
