I did not kill my wife: Baden-Clay (AAP)

Accused murderer Gerard Baden-Clay has told a Brisbane court it's absurd to suggest he killed his wife and dumped her body.

Under intense questioning from the prosecution, the 43-year-old has told the Supreme Court he would never harm his wife.

Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller suggested to Baden-Clay that he was under significant personal and financial pressure on April 19, 2012, the day his wife Allison was last seen alive.

"You killed your wife, Mr Baden-Clay," Mr Fuller said.

"No I did not," Baden-Clay replied firmly from the witness box.

"You killed her, either in or at Brookfield, that night or in the early hours of the morning," Mr Fuller said loudly.

"No I did not," Baden-Clay replied.

Mr Fuller: "You attacked her and the only way that she could respond was to lash out and claw at your face and leave marks upon it."

Baden-Clay "That is not true."

Mr Fuller: "Probably as you smothered her and took her life from her."

Baden-Clay: "That is not true."

The former real estate agent, who remained calm under cross examination, told Mr Fuller he had no idea how he got an injury under his right shoulder, and denied overpowering his wife quickly.

"I never did anything to physically harm my wife in any way, ever, so your supposition to then take it further, to suggest I did other things as well, is absurd and I object to it," Baden-Clay said.

"You transported her to Kholo Creek and then dumped her underneath the bridge, unceremoniously," Mr Fuller continued.

"The suggestion that I would leave my children for any time in the middle of the night is absurd, let alone to do the dastardly things you're suggesting," Baden-Clay replied.

Allison Baden-Clay's body was found on a creek bank at Anstead in Brisbane's west on April 30, 2012.

The discovery was made 10 days after her husband reported her missing from their home at nearby Brookfield.

Baden-Clay, who has pleaded not guilty to murder, has been stood down from the witness box on his forth day of evidence.

Defence witnesses are expected to appear later on Wednesday.

    Synopsis:
A lone kayaker found her, lying as if asleep on the steep, muddy bank of Kholo Creek, where it adjoins the Brisbane River; her body and the river swollen from the torrential Queensland April rains. This is the story of the trial, interwoven with the forensic numerological profile of the three people involved in the murderous love triangle: Allison, former local beauty queen and mother of three young girls, her husband Gerard, (who was also her murderer), and his lover Toni McHugh. This real life crime was committed in Brisbane, Australia in 2012. In July, 2014, Gerard Robert Baden-Clay, great-grandson of Scouting pioneer Lord Robert Baden-Powell, was given a life sentence of 25 years with the non-parole period set at 15 years. He is currently serving out that sentence at the Wolston Park Correctional Centre at Wacol, just kilometres away from where the murder was committed at Brookfield and Allison's body dumped. It is also only kilometres away from the town of Redbank, where his lovely bride, a country girl, grew up.
