Malaysia Airlines MH17: German student Fatima Dyczynski dreamt of living in Perth (ABC)

Fatima Dyczynski's lifelong dream of moving to Perth ended when the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine.

The 24-year-old had recently completed her Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and was due to begin an internship in Perth on Monday, before returning to the Netherlands to complete her Masters.

She was not counted among the seven official WA victims as she held a German passport.

Her parents Angela Rudhart-Dyczynski and Jezy Dyczynski moved to WA seven years ago, following their only child's dream.

"Her dream was to live in Perth," Mrs Rudhart-Dyczynski said.

"She loved Perth from the first moment.

"We took the decision as a family, we supported her vision."

Ms Dyczynski completed a year of secondary schooling at John XX111 College in Mt Claremont before heading back overseas for further studies.

Her ultimate aim was to become an astronaut.

Mrs Rudhart-Dyczynski said she spoke to her daughter briefly as she was boarding flight MH17.

"I told her 'sunshine in Perth for Friday when you arrive' and she said 'Mum I need it so much, sunshine'," she said.

Mrs Rudhart-Dyczynski said she wanted to speak about her daughter to ensure her message got out to the world.

"Fatima was an inspiration to thousands of people," she said.

"She had TEDx talks, she had friends, she had Facebook, she communicated with people all over the world from America, to Israel, Germany, she spoke four languages, she was just in the zone to all these people.

"We've been thinking what was her message she wanted to say and it was 21st century science, it was high-class intelligence and it was for the benefit of humankind, to use the intelligence to understand mankind better and our planet better.

"'Make this place personal' was her motto."

The Delft University of Technology issued a statement saying Fatima was one of two of its students among the victims of Friday's plane crash.

"For Fatima, Master's student at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, virtually nothing seemed impossible," the statement read.

"Her unflagging energy, a sparkling inspiration for her fellow students and for us, will be extremely missed.

"We wish her parents, family, friends and colleagues much strength with this terrible loss."
