Queensland's Supreme Court has intervened in a dispute over election signs displayed during Saturday's Stafford by-election.
The state's highest court ordered the Liberal National Party not to display material that said Labor candidate Anthony Lynham lived outside the electorate.
Dr Lynham moved to the inner-north electorate following his decision to stand for the seat.
LNP campaign banners criticising Dr Lynham for living outside the area are false, the opposition says.
Earlier on Saturday, the Electoral Commission of Queensland confirmed the material breached the Electoral Act, but later clarified it "may have" breached the act.
Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk said Premier Campbell Newman had been caught out peddling lies.
"Why has Campbell Newman allowed these lies to be perpetrated right up until the voting day? Stafford deserves better," she told reporters on Saturday.
The premier dismissed the dispute, saying "that's what happens in elections".
Maxillofacial surgeon Dr Lynham is expected to comfortably beat his LNP opponent, Bob Andersen, in Saturday's poll. Analysts tip a swing to Labor of up to 12 per cent.
Ms Palaszczuk played down her party's chances of gaining a ninth seat in the Queensland parliament, but Mr Newman said his candidate was the underdog.
The seat was vacated in May by the LNP's Chris Davis, who disagreed with the government over its handling of doctors' contracts and the watering down of political donation laws.
