85yo man charged with intent to murder over Lakemba strata meeting shooting (ABC)

An 85-year-old who allegedly shot another man at a building meeting in Sydney's south-west has been formally refused bail.

Illie Istudor was charged with discharging a firearm with intent to murder and possession of ammunition and an unlicensed gun.

Police said he shot a 66-year-old in the neck during a strata meeting in Lakemba on Thursday night.

The victim remained in hospital and his injuries were not life-threatening.

His alleged attacker Istudor was also in hospital under police guard after sustaining head injuries while falling down stairs during the incident.

Istudor did not face court but his matter was dealt with. He will remain in custody until his case returns to court next week.
