Two men risked their lives trying to save another man who remains missing off the coast of South Australia.
Rescue crews are at Encounter Bay, south of Adelaide, searching for the man who disappeared on Friday afternoon.
The man in distress was last seen in the water at Petrel Cove, near The Bluff, when he struck rocks and lost consciousness.
A witness sought to help him but instead found himself overcome by the current and swept onto the rocks.
He suffered minor cuts and abrasions and had to be saved by a rescue helicopter.
Another witness tried to lift the unconscious man onto his body board but was unable to do so and made his own way back to shore.
The search continues.
