Sex victim*s mother tells court of trauma caused by Kylie Fiona Henry (ABC)

ABC

A former primary school canteen manager who had sex with a teenager left her victim's family traumatised by the crime, the boy's mother has told Adelaide's District Court.

A jury acquitted Kylie Fiona Henry last year of raping the 15-year-old in 2011 when she was 38.

She was instead convicted of the lesser charge of unlawful sexual intercourse.

During sentencing submissions, the victim's mother said the trauma Henry caused had changed her family's life for the worse.

She read out a statement from her son in which he said he suffered depression, had been robbed of his teenage years and a first sexual encounter with someone he loved.

At the end of the hearing, the judge reiterated that a lack of consent had not been proven, otherwise Henry would have been convicted of rape.
